Ancient Therapeutic Order of the Mystic Temple
 

There was a Jewish community in Alexandria, Egypt, called the Therapeutae, meaning "those who serve." "Therapeutae" has a double meaning, though.
1) In the sense of "healing," they professed alternative therapeutics better than that available in the cities.
2) In the sense of "worship," they professed to worship God as "The Being, who is better than The Good, purer than The One, and more archaic (ancient) than The Monad."
Today, the QaBbaListic Therapeutists© of the Invisible Society© practice a revived, but more advanced version of this profession.

Alchemy is a metaphor for psychological transformation. Carl Jung called the process "alchemystical." He said, "The personification of lifeless things is caused by unconscious identity or, what Lévy-Bruhl called, participation mystique." He also said, "One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The latter procedure, however, is disagreeable and therefore not popular."
